Monsters in the Park for Halloween

On Halloween evening, Palmetto Bay opened Coral Reef Park for a new combo event. Nearly 1000 people came through for trick-or-treating or the open-air movie screaming screening of "Monsters University".

Mayor Shelley Stanczyk, Councilmen Fiore and Schaffer, Village Manager Ron Williams and almost the entire Parks department pitched in to make this a highly successful event.

Kids strolled through the tennis courts and by several sponsor tables to play games and collect candy. At 7pm, the Village presented Pixar's "Monsters University".

The kids were dressed in great custumes and the flavor of the event was just plan FUN. I loved taking part and set up shop to hand out nearly 400 bags of fresh popcorn for the moviegoers. Special thanks to my family for helping out!

As a kid, I remember going door-to-door for hours collecting candy. Nowadays, the world is different and safety concerns are at a whole different level. This event melted all that away and made this feel like a good old-fashioned Halloween!

I hope your evening was a sweet one...
