Miracle League and Blue & White Baseball Games

It is baseball season in South Florida...

The Miracle League Facebook post summed it up best when they wrote: Thank you to Palmetto High School baseball teams, Head Coach Danny Smith, MPMS Booster Club, Booster Chair Scott Sarason, Booster Buffy Heldt, and the Village of Palmetto Bay for a wonderful day of Miracle League ball at Coral Reef Park - Home of the Panthers!

On the morning of January 30, before the annual Palmetto High School’s annual Blue & White Game, the Miracle League fielded their stars in a feel-good baseball game that brought smiles to participants, hosts and fans. The Miracle League is a volunteer group with the mission to construct a customized baseball field that accommodates wheelchairs, walkers and people with special needs.

After that game, it was time for the Palmetto freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams to scrimmage as a way to welcome the Spring baseball season.

The day was special for many reasons, including the unveiling of the brand new scoreboard. It was the Parks Department of Palmetto Bay that also scrambled to make the field beautiful and playable after a few days of tremendous rain.

By mid afternoon, it was clear that this day of baseball had brought out a lot of heart in our kids and our community.
